In the V20 phase, Siemens will launch the S7-1200 G2, which has undergone significant upgrades and innovations in appearance, functionality, and supporting modules.


It is expected that the S7-1212 (F) C and S7-1214 (F) C series will be released in early 2025. The key updates are as follows:


Brand new design:

  • New hardware design reduces track length by approximately 25%
  • Significant increase in storage area
  • New movable terminal
  • Enhanced signal board concept, supporting up to two signal boards


Enhance connectivity:

  • Body integration 2 x RJ45 (one PN port)
  • PROFINET: 31 devices, supporting IRT
  • New NFC function that enables CPU diagnosis on mobile devices


Motion control function:

  • The motion control ability has been greatly enhanced, supporting functions such as synchronization, cam, interpolation, etc

1.1.2 Comprehensive update of S7-1500 CPU


With the release of V18 and V19, S7-1516 and below CPU models have upgraded their "dual core" hardware. Based on this, V20 further optimized the performance of S7-1500's dual core CPU and high-end CPU, achieving varying degrees of performance improvement.


High end CPU hardware replacement:


The overall hardware of S7-1516T (F) and above CPUs has been replaced, and the firmware version has been updated to V4.0. The network interface and various performance have been significantly improved:

  • Cancel PROFIBUS interface
  • X2 interface becomes dual port and supports IRT
  • Unified support for X3 interface as standard Gigabit Ethernet interface

1.1.4 S7-1515SP OC3


For the open controller S7-1515SP, it will also be updated to the third generation product. Compared with the previous products, the main updates are as follows:

  • Adopting 128GB SSD replaceable solid state drive
  • Add an IE/PN-RT interface that can be assigned to the OS or software controller (F/T/TF)
  • In terms of pre installed operating systems, in addition to the original Windows and Industrial OS, Industrial Edge has also been added
  • The applicable temperature range has been expanded to -30 ° C~60 ° C, which can be used in some new application areas
